AgassizCDVws.gif

Agassiz Louis renowned geologist, father of glacial geology and naturalist, original photo in carte visite format accompanied by a clipped, undated signature that was mounted long ago on a paper backing. With a proper mat, the pair of items is very suitable for framing and otherwise makes a nice grouping, and constitutes a unique offering. Apologies for quality of the photos. I couldn't reduce the glare with and without falsh.    Price: $90.00        (stock#Agz)

Davidson Thomas, two parts of his classic, six volume BRITISH FOSSIL BRACHIOPODA, published by the Palaeon-tographical Society between 1850-1886. Both parts are bound in contemporary blue cloth boards typical of the Palaeontographical Society annual volumes, and are from the library of H. S. Williams with presentation inscription by Davidson H. S. Williams name stamp, and older bookplate and discrete stamps which I assume reflect the acquisition of the volumes by a college library (either Unv. of Ohio, or Oklahoma) shortly after his death in 1918. They are: Palaeontographical Society 159: A Monograph of the British Fossil Brachiopoda- Volume 4, Part 3, Supplement to the Permian and Carboniferous Species  & Palaeontographical Society, 1880, pp. 243-316, plates 30-37.; AND   Palaeon-tographical Society 163: A Monograph of the British Fossil Brachiopoda- Volume 4, Part 4, Devonian and Silurian Brachiopoda that occur in the Triassic Pebble Bed of Budleigh Salterton, in Devonshire pp. 317-368, plates 38-42.
A nice set of Presentation copies and also companion volumes.        Price: $75.00                     (stock#IPBDAVsgnx2)

Hay O. P. 1929 – 1930 SECOND BIBLIOGRAPHY AND CATALOGUE OF THE FOSSIL VERTEBRATA OF NORTH AMERICA Carnegie Institution Publication #390 Two massive volumes, both in wraps overall light wear, minor chips, short tear to wrap along spine, small stain to paper spine cover, blind stamp else contents clean and a very good set of a rather scarce and very important vertebrate paleontology reference. Vol. 1 with 916 pp., Vol. 2 with 1074 pp. While a prolific paleontologist in his own right, Hay took it upon himself to compile an exhaustive catalog of North American vertebrate fossils, often reassigning specimens to other genera, neglecting type specimens or lack thereof, designating lectotypes, etc.. which had the end result of causing 100 years of chaos, which still continues as the current generation of researchers works through the mess he created. Hence, this volume is a must have primary reference for the fossil vertebrate researcher and enthusiast.
